About Homeopathy
HOMEOPATHY is a 200-year-old system of medicine used successfully by hundreds of millions worldwide. It is part of the public health care systems of nations in Europe, South America and Asia. It is the second most widely used form of medicine for primary care in the world today.
It was founded by the great German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796 starting with his recognition of the Law of Similia as a general therapeutic law. Although the notion of ‘like cures like’ can be traced back to Hippocrates two thousand years ago, it was Dr. Hahnemann who first recognized & applied this therapeutic principle as a general law. Homeopathy is safe. Homeopathic remedies do not have any chemical action, so they do not have the potential to cause any sustained damage, and are considered safe through pregnancy, birth, childhood illnesses, puberty, menopause and old age. Remedies have no known side effects or interactions, and are non-addictive. Homeopathic medicines are very effective in both acute and chronic conditions.
Being a holistic healing science, Homeopathy has always recognized diseases to be having both physical and psychological components. There has been a paradigm shift in recent years with healthcare and medical professionals focusing on preventive medicine along with therapeutic medicine. The concept of working towards developing an overall sense of well being in individuals is gaining grounds rather than merely keeping people disease free. Since homoeopathic remedies boost the natural defense mechanisms of the body, they play a vital role in preventive medicine.
